Destino turístico: João Pessoa - Paraíba
Uma capital pequena, feita para encantar
Imagine descobrir um tesouro, um paraíso secreto. Um lugar calmo, silencioso, simples, muito verde e muito azul, e que parece ser só seu. Sem resorts badalados, sem arranha-céus próximos à praia, sem agitos típicos de lugares da moda, sem frescura. Ao mesmo tempo, um lugar cheio de belezas naturais e de cultura, limpo, extremamente acolhedor e, acredite, quase sem miséria considerando que arte é uma fonte de renda. Pois esse lugar existe: João Pessoa. Fundada no século 16 e hoje com população de aproximadamente 600 mil pessoas, a capital da Paraíba é esse pedacinho despretensioso do Nordeste que pode causar uma paixão irremediável no seu coração.
Não dá muito para entender o porquê de a cidade ainda não ter sido “abarrotada” por viajantes. As praias de águas cristalinas, de falésias, de nudismo são maravilhosas, o sol é ininterrupto, a temperatura do mar fica em 28 graus em média, o ar é puro, as ruas são muito arborizadas (a cidade se proclama a mais verde das Américas e a segunda mais verde do mundo) e a infra-estrutura se revela eficiente. Ainda há encontro de rios com o mar, esportes náuticos, reservas indígenas, gente boa e bonita, comidas deliciosas do mar e típicas da região, histórias antigas, excelente receptividade, alta qualidade de vida. Pensando bem, é uma bênção que João Pessoa ainda não seja ponto turístico obrigatório não se sabe até que ponto a organização, a limpeza e o bom atendimento nos serviços seriam iguais.
João Pessoa surpreende. Longe da badalação de outras capitais nordestinas, a cidade logo conquista quem chega com ruas arborizadas, um ótimo calçadão com coqueiros na orla e, principalmente, as praias. Tambaú e Bessa são muito freqüentadas, mas as mais bonitas ficam ao sul, na vizinha Jacumã, a 30 km de distância: Tambaba e Coqueirinho, aonde dá pra chegar de carro ou de bugue. Outra atração turística é o Mangai, restaurante de comida regional. Não saia da cidade sem passar por ele. Nem sem visitar o Centro, bom programa para um dia sem praia: tente conhecer pelo menos o Centro Cultural São Francisco e a Casa do Artista Popular. Aproveite o dia, já que você vai acordar mais cedo do que no resto do país: em João Pessoa fica o ponto mais oriental da América do Sul, a Ponta do Seixas: ali, o sol nasce primeiro.

Como chegar: a rodovia que vai, paralela ao mar, da capital para o sul é a PB-008. A que leva ao litoral norte, onde as praias são menos exploradas, é a BR-101

CABEDELO - Bem na divisa com João Pessoa fica essa cidade portuária histórica, onde estão as ruínas do Forte de Santa Catarina, construído pelos portugueses em 1585. É lá também que estão as praias próprias para o surfe e para a prática do kite surfe: Intermares e Mar do Macaco.
IGREJA SANTO ANTÔNIO DO CONVENTO FRANCISCANO - Além da arte sacra e barroca da própria nave, tem uma exposição permanente de arte e cultura popular, com aproximadamente 1200 peças, doadas pelo Ministério da Cultura. JACARÉ - Programa imperdível é passear pela orla da praia fluvial desse rio e assistir ao pôr-do-sol ouvindo o “Bolero” de Ravel, executado em todos os bares ribeirinhos a partir das 17h. - Em Cabedelo, a 6 km de João Pessoa.
PONTA DO SEIXAS - É o ponto mais oriental das Américas, ou seja, onde o sol nasce primeiro no Brasil. Ao lado do mirante, há o Farol do Cabo Branco, construído em 1972 e inspirado num dos maiores símbolos da Paraíba: o pé de sisal, que já foi a principal fonte de renda do Estado por suas fibras. - Ao final da Praia de Cabo Branco, seguindo pela via litorânea, a 14 km da capital.
Festas - Agitação:
BAIXO TAMBAÚ - Próximo à rua Coração de Jesus, os barzinhos fervem. Vale a pena experimentar a cachaça “Pau do Índio”. Em geral, abrem de quarta a sábado.

A small capital, made to charm
Imagine finding a treasure, a secret paradise. A place calm, quiet, simple, very green and very blue, and that seems to be his only.
